CasaPueblo, Castle of a Uruguayan dreamer
Uruguayan artist Carlos Páez Vilaró dedicated 36 years of his life to build this amazing place, which was both his painting studio and summerhouse.
Casapueblo is an extraordinary place in front of the Atlantic sea and Rio de la Plata, near Punta del Este.
Uruguayan artist Carlos Páez Vilaró dedicated 36 years of his life to build this amazing place, which was both his painting studio and summerhouse.
Made of whitewashed cement and white stucco, with 13 floors, gardens, terraces and swimming pools, it reminds the shapes of Greek islands houses… It has been conceived without no plans nor straight lines, evolving year by year according to the mood of Páez Vilaró…
This is also a tribute to his son, one of the survivors of the crash of Uruguayan 571 Air Force Flight in 1972. Carlos Páez Vilaró spent 3 months to search his son in the middle of the Andes, after Uruguayan government stopped the researches, and he finally find him alive…
Today, this is a museum dedicated to his paintings, and a part is a luxury hotel
